YouCanToo Community Contributed in Women's Voices in Tourism Research

One of the greatest privileges in academia is not only publishing research, but also having the opportunity to encourage those who will come after us.

I am honoured to have contributed a personal letter to Women’s Voices in Tourism Research, an international open-access publication edited by Professor Antonia Correia and Professor Sara Dolnicar, bringing together women tourism researchers from around the world. The book combines research contributions with personal letters written to inspire and support future generations of women scholars.

In my letter, I reflect on the challenges, lessons, and values that have shaped my own academic journey. More importantly, I share a message that has become the foundation of YouCanToo Community: knowledge grows when we choose collaboration over competition, and meaningful careers are built by lifting others as we move forward.

This is exactly why YouCanToo Community exists.

We believe that mentorship should not depend on privilege or personal networks. Every woman deserves access to guidance, opportunities, and a supportive community that believes in her potential.

Being part of this publication is therefore more than an academic milestone. It is a reminder that our experiences become most valuable when they help someone else navigate their own journey.

If you are an early-career researcher, or simply someone looking for encouragement as you build your own path, I hope this letter offers both practical advice and reassurance that you are not walking this journey alone.
